How do you pump concrete into a below-grade excavation for an underground parkade?
We stage the boom pump at the excavation perimeter on the street or adjacent surface, extend the boom down into the excavation, and place concrete directly onto the slab form from above. For most residential and commercial excavations, our 52M to 65M boom pumps have the vertical and horizontal reach to cover the floor plate from one or two staging positions without the pump truck entering the excavation. For very deep or wide excavations where boom reach is a constraint, we can run line pump extensions from a trailer pump staged at grade into the excavation.
Can you place concrete continuously on a large parkade slab without a cold joint?
Yes. For large continuous pours, we stage backup equipment at the pour and keep it ready to deploy if the primary pump requires a line change or maintenance stop. Our operators are briefed on the pour volume and acceptable transition window before the pour starts. We also confirm pump output rates against your expected truck delivery rate in advance so the flow of concrete stays consistent from start to finish.
How do you handle ramp pours in a cast-in-place parkade structure?
Ramp pours require controlled output to manage concrete placement on a sloped surface. We reduce the pump output rate on ramp sections and coordinate with your forming crew on consolidation approach to avoid segregation on the slope. Line pump configurations work well for ramp pours where a boom truck cannot stage with the right angle to reach the form geometry cleanly. We confirm the approach for each ramp pour during pre-pour planning.
How many pumps do you typically use for a large underground parkade slab?
It depends on the floor plate size and the pour window your schedule allows. A standard single-level underground parkade slab for a residential tower can often be placed with a single 65M boom pump in a single pour day. A larger multi-bay slab or a program with a tight pour window may require two pumps working from opposite ends of the floor plate simultaneously. We confirm the dispatch plan after reviewing your pour layout and volume.
Do you provide documentation for ICI parkade prequalification packages?
Yes. We provide WSIB clearance certificates, ACPA operator certifications, proof of insurance, and company safety documentation. For union-required ICI sites, our operators meet applicable Ontario labour standards. Project references from parkade and large commercial slab programs are available on request.
